About Us

 ALL OF OUR TEACHERS ARE NOW OFFICALLY DANCE MASTERS OF AMERICA CERTIFIED IN THEIR GENRE EXPERTISE!

We have two state of the art studios, which both have free floating floors.  One studio has a marley floor and the other has a wood floor.  New Pictures of the studios under Studio Transformation!  We also have observation windows into both studios, two restrooms, a nice lobby and dressing room!  Come by and get a studio tour.

Jessica Mae Roesener

Artistic Director

BDA Petiite Dancers Program/ Modern / Ballet / Pointe/ Jazz  / Lyrical/ Acrobatics/ Company  Instructor

Jessica has a Bachelor of Science in Dance and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Idaho and has been teaching in South Florida for the past five years.  Jessica is a member of the National Dance Association, Florida Dance Education Organization (BDA is a chapter of the National Honor Society), Florida Dance Masters, Florida Dance Association and is certified in Jazz and Ballet by Dance Masters of America. She attends teacher workshops regularly to keep up to date on the new and upcoming forms and techniques of the dance world.  Some of the workshops and teachers she has worked with over the last few years include Conquest Intensive (featuring Martha from “So you think you can dance”), Horton Summer Intensive in Daytona Beach, EDGE teachers workshop in Los Angeles, Florida Dance Festival in Miami, Pulse Convention in Ft Lauderdale featuring Mia Michaels, Shane Sparks, Brian Freidman, Wade Robson, Cris Judd, Laurie Ann Gibson and Dave Scott; as well as numerous DMA conventions regionally and nationally.  Her choreography solos and groups have won numerous awards at competitions including platinum and special awards.  Over the years she has danced and toured with Henning Rubsom, Frankie Manning, Bill Evans, Peter Loggins, General Hambrick, Leon Von Brown, Ronaldo Bowins, Gerrard Alexander, Margo Blake, Angela Armstrong and Kevin Veiga. 

Katina Nigro

Tap / Hip-Hop / Jazz / Company/ Zumba/ Ballet

Instructor for Fall 09-10

Katina comes to Broward Dance Academy from Michigan.  She brings with her an extensive background in performance, choreography and instruction.    Her performance credits include recording artist Kristine W. , Country Tonight, Legends in Concert, American Superstars and The Dream King, which she also choreographed, to name a few.  She has choreographed, been on faculty and has taught master classes at some of the top dance studios in Las Vegas, Michigan and Florida. She has studied and performed with industry’s finest choreographers.  Her style of teaching and choreography is invigorating and fresh.   Katina’s students have won numerous awards in the nation’s top dance cmpetitions.  Katina is also now a certifited Zumba instructor.  We are very happy that Katina will be continuing on with us at BDA for the fall 09-10 and starting a Zumba program at BDA with us!  Katina just became a certified member of Dance Masters of America in Tap & Jazz, Congratulations!

 

Melissa Roy

Ballet, BT, Lyrical & Company

Instructor for Fall 09-10

Melissa Roy began her dance training at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, Colorado where she also danced with the Arvada Civic Ballet Company under the direction of Christina Noel-Adcock.  She continued her training at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance education.  In addition to the Arvada Civic Ballet, she has also performed with Burklyn Ballet Theatre, Ballet Oklahoma, JU Dance Theatre and Dance with Distinction.  Ms. Roy also teaches pre-school and just completed her Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education.  We are very happy that Melissa will be continuing on with us at BDA for the fall 09-10. Ms Melissa just became a certified member of Dance Masters of America in Ballet, Congratulations!

Elizabeth Cross

Salsa Instructor

Elizabeth has been teaching and performing cultural dance forms for over 10 years.  She teaches Salsa, Meringue, Cha-Cha-Cha, and African Dance.  Her enthusiastic, personable teaching style and ability to break down steps so that students learn with ease is what has added to her success.  She has worked with organizations such as YMCA, Harbourfront Centre, Parks and Recreation, Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples, and Norwegian Cruise Lines providing all with a fun-filled dance experience.  We are very happy that Elizabeth will be continuing with us at BDA for fall 09-10.
